We aim to provide top quality accommodation and food for guests at affordable prices whilst striving to have as little negative impact on the environment as possible, thus lowering our carbon footprint.
We have started an ongoing refurbishment programme in consideration of our personal impact on the environment. We purchased new A and AA grade fridges and washing machines for the kitchen refit. We do not have a dishwasher, freezer or tumble dryer. Our hot water is supplied by solar panels. Heating is supplied by either: two wood-burning stoves in the communal areas, or by an oil fired boiler. All rooms have thermostatic controls on the radiators and all the light fittings have energy saving or low energy bulbs.
We wash all our own laundry and line dry all items. We have a self-sustaining septic tank and as such, it is important for us to use natural cleaning products which do not harm the micro-organisms. We have one diesel mini bus and use our bikes as much as possible. We recycle all items that are collected by the Comminges council.
We grow our own organic fruit and vegetables using biodynamic methods. We compost wherever possible. Other fresh fruit and vegetables are sourced locally at markets or direct from the producers. We avoid buying Air Mile produce, so all our menus are seasonal and vary according to what is available locally. We are proud to support 'Croquez Local', an association of local organic producers whose aim is to provide high quality produce direct to the consumer with as little impact on the environment as possible. Our food is purchased to order, thus reducing kitchen waste. We cycle as often as possible to buy local produce.
We believe that it is extremely important that we support our local economy and producers wherever possible to sustain tourism at its best in an area of outstanding natural beauty, for you to enjoy and return to in the future. We encourage guests to support local producers too.
We encourage our guests to be environmentally conscious during their stay with us.
